Weekend Happenings...


... it is time to get your Moonlight Ramble on again, St. Louis!

That's right, the 47th Annual all-night, family-friendly bike ride is right around the corner. Note: the location changed this year, so please pay close attention to the information below!

NITTY GRITTY:

The 2010 Moonlight Ramble
August 21-22- Forest Park at the Muny

The ride starts one minute past midnight and includes a 9 mile or 19 mile route through St. Louis. Annually, 10,000-15,000 riders participate from around the region.

SCHEDULE:

8 pm. — Registration, VIP, and Vendor Village opens
10 p.m. — Live Radio Broadcast begins
11:45 p.m. — Announcements to riders
12:01 a.m. — The Ride starts
1 a.m. — After-party and snacks

COST:

$30 for Adults
$15 for teens
$10 for children ages 5-12
Free for children ages 4 and under

PROCEEDS GO TO:

The Gateway Council. Proceeds fund community-oriented services, including low-budget travel workshops; low-cost outdoor recreational activities for the entire family such as hiking, walking, bicycling, and canoeing; educational programs which teach cultural competency such as “Opening Doors, Opening Minds” and “World Travel 101”; and the fulfillment of their vision to develop a world-class hostel in St. Louis.

Attention Night Owls...

Looking for Saturday evening plans and have the opportunity to sleep in on Sunday? The 46th annual Moonlight Ramble is happening tomorrow! This event is an absolute BLAST, if you have never been?!

It is a family-friendly, all-night bike ride through downtown, that typically draws over 10,000 riders a year. The ride itself begins at 1 minute past midnight and follows a short (7 miles) or a longer (14 miles) route through the streets of Saint Louis.

The event is well patrolled by the St Louis City police and there are a number of sponsors, providing food and drink along the way.

In addition, there are activities before and after the ride, distinctive glow-in-the-dark commemorative T-shirts, plus the chance to be part of a unique spectacle draw recreational cyclists of all ages and skill levels, many of them returning year after year.

Registration/Sign-In: in downtown St Louis at Soldiers' Memorial Plaza, 14th and Chestnut tomorrow night (Saturday) from 9 - 11:59 p.m.

Cost: $30 for adults (price includes ride T-shirt), $10 for children (must be accompanied by adult and price includes T-shirt), $100 Premier Rider option (price includes jersey for Premier Rider)

One word of advice: skip the tandem bike and go solo. I speak from experience... =)
