2013 HGTV Dream Home Getaway...

Nothing says "Happy New Year" like the HGTV announcement of their new Dream Home project! I await the design eye candy every year- the 2013 project does NOT disappoint?!

Every year, HGTV constructs and gifts one lucky viewer with a dream home of EPIC proportions.    This year's property is a a low country Zen coastal cottage located off the coast of the Atlantic, just outside of Charleston, South Carolina on Kiawah Island. Having enjoyed a glorious week in that area last summer, I can attest this would be a dream come true for most people.  Beautiful beaches, amazing history, lovely architecture.

A quick video tour of this year's project...

The 3,000 sq ft 3 story home is part of the Indigo Village "green-living" neighborhood.  In fact, this house is SO "green", it earns a Platinum LEED certification!   The property boasts a streamlined kitchen with bamboo flooring, a master bathroom suite with a nearly two-foot deep soaking tub, an outdoor shower, and a front deck built from sustainable hardwood. All within 2,000 ft. from the beach!

A random peek at 6 days in Charleston, South Carolina...

One can't even begin to sum up the magic that is a trip to Charleston. Eerie history that dates back to the 17th century, perfectly preserved jaw-dropping architecture, and some of the most beautiful natural beaches I have ever experienced. The perfect summer adventure!
