Sycamore, Illinois architecture never disappoints!
I have admired this 1886 Queen Anne style mansion for more than 20 years in my husband’s hometown...
I was surprised to find it on the market during our recent visit. 8000sqft and ready for it? Only 450k. 3 finished stories, original silk wallpaper, untouched woodwork in pristine condition, pocket doors galore, 9 functional fireplaces, a carriage house, and gorgeous grounds. So many lovely original architectural goodies that I had to share!

Dare I venture to say that there is no more entertaining week in the life of a Realtor as Halloween?
The absolute best! The entry to Rayner Road In Des Peres never disappoints!🎃

5 St. Louis Weekend Happenings - Labor Day 2019
Labor Day Weekend 2019 is almost here, and what's not to love? It's a chance to slow down and appreciate our "laborers". The kids are off of school, most adults have the long weekend to play, and it is the last "hurrah" before we charge into the cooler weather and slower pace of Fall.
Labor Day Weekend, particularly in St Louis, is always full of amazing family-friendly activities. If you want to get out, hit the city, and do something other than enjoy the last weekend of pool season... the possibilities are endless.
Need help planning your long holiday weekend? Besides a busy game weekend for the Cardinals versus the Reds and Giants, the Great Godfrey Corn Maze, and extended hours at the St. Louis Zoo, below are 5 of my favorite St. Louis Labor Day 2019 activities...
Labor Day Parade

Thousands of local union members will march through downtown St. Louis for the annual Labor Day Parade. An awesome way to kick off the weekend and show your pride /support our local workers. There will be local bands, drill teams, and a ton of action!
The parade begins at 15th and Olive. It then makes its way down Tucker Street, past St. Louis City Hall and west on Market Street to 15th Street. Food and celebration follows at Chestnut and Market!

The Japanese Festival at the Botanical Garden

Each Labor Day weekend, the Missouri Botanical Garden hosts one of the largest and oldest Japanese Festivals in North America. In addition to taking in the beauty of the Botanical Gardens, visitors can enjoy Japanese music, art, dance, food, and entertainment including Origami demonstrations, a traditional tea ceremony, and live Sumo wrestling.
Tickets to the festival are $16 for adults, $8 for members, and $5 for non- member children and and free for children Garden members.

Big Muddy Blues Festival on Laclede's Landing

The 24th Annual Big Muddy Blues Festival is a free, outdoor music festival featuring local and nationally known Blues artists that hosts over 30,000 people annually. 50+ musicians perform on three outdoor stages set up throughout the cobble stoned streets of the Landing, 3 indoor stages, and two events at the National Blues Museum featuring tributes to Albert King and Tommy Bankhead. 10 New Years Resolutions For Your Home in 2019
A warm thank you to Manage My Life for this terrific advice heading in to 2019...
10 New Years Resolutions for your Home
Tradition dictates that every January 1, we resolve to make a life improvement, big or small. Improving your home can improve your life, so apply the most popular New Year's resolutions to your home.
1. Lose weight
A bit of weight loss goes a long way in a home. Sell, donate, recycle or discard the stuff you never use. When your home is less cluttered, the rest of your life just might follow suit.
2. Quit smoking
If your home is smoking, you need to know about it. Install a smoke detector on every level of your home and outside the sleeping areas. Keep your resolution charged all year by changing the batteries in your detectors twice a year.
3. Get organized
A place for everything, and everything in its place — ever heard that one? Organize files, storage areas and living spaces. Professionals can lend a hand, or you can tackle the job yourself. Either way, your life runs more smoothly when you can find things when you need them.

4. Improve your appearance.
You'll be most content in your home when you're happy with it aesthetically. Refreshes could range from fresh flowers to improved lighting to new flooring. When you revitalize your home, it revitalizes you right back.
5. Make more money.
Small projects can add big profit if you plan to sell your home. Some can be found in simple fixes — a fresh coat of paint, a new rug, less furniture and less clutter. Although the return on your investment depends on your timing and the market, the most profitable changes are a basic kitchen update, a revitalized lawn, an energy-efficient fireplace and a second bath.
6. Save money.
Consistent, proper maintenance of your home can save big money in the long run. If ignored, small things like worn washer hoses, clogged gutters or dead tree limbs can become costly problems. A regular maintenance plan can prevent emergency repairs from taking you to the bank.
7. Drink less.
Is your energy consumption out of control? You can start with the easy fixes — use compact fluorescent light bulbs, rechargeable batteries and fewer disposable items. Turn off what you're not using and adjust your thermostat. Bigger ticket items include energy-saving appliances and low-flush toilets. These changes not only decrease your energy bills, they also place fewer demands on the planet's resources.
8. Go back to school.
Attend home maintenance classes and learn about home improvement projects. If you're calling in a professional, educate yourself about the appropriate processes, know what questions to ask, and then ask them.
9. Try something new.
Never hung a picture? Never built a deck? With the right tools and education, you can manage a lot on your own. Set your sights on a project that's realistic for you and go for it.
10. Spend more time with family and friends.
Your friends and family will line up at your door to help celebrate your accomplishments!

Just for Fun: Journey in to Fall at Casa de Nenonen
Thanks to the arrival of the fantasy pumpkins at Trader Joe's...
I began the process of giving Summer the big "heave-ho" from my garden this week. Tired summer blooms out, mums and pumpkins in!
My loyal sidekick and project supervisor, Miss Willow, approved.🎃🍂TIP: The fantasy pumpkins at Trader Joe's are an incredible deal at only $6.95 a piece but they DO NOT LAST LONG, friends! If interested, get there quickly. My pumpkin topiary almost always stays in tact until after Thanksgiving! I love their interesting shapes/textures and creamy, warm colors.

Happy Father's Day!
I have been blessed with wonderful men in my life...
A father who was 100% devoted to me until his last moment on earth and a life partner who adores and respects the role of “father” to the utmost. When I look at my babies, I see Steve’s wit, optimism, kind heart, and adventurous spirit. My father lives on through their inquisitive nature, sense of humor, and tenacity.❤️
A warm wish for a Happy Father’s Day to the wonderful men in my life... from clients and coworkers to neighbors, family, and friends. I feel so lucky to have you all in my life... the world is definitely a better place because of you.

Hidden Gem: Holiday Libations at Miracle StL in Benton Park
Miracle StL, the popular kitschy Christmas pop-up bar, is BACK this year and the clock is ticking! Only 10 more days before the doors close.
Last night, we threw on our ugly Christmas sweaters and enjoyed holiday cheer under the tinsel with a group of friends. It was all that it was cracked up to be and then some... holiday overload in the absolute best way!
MiracleStl is one of over 50 Christmas pop-up bars around the US that participate in the tradition. While it is super tricky to get a reservation, the craft cocktails by the talented folks at the Planter's House are amazing and the intentionally-tacky holiday decor would make Clark Griswold proud. We had a holly jolly time and left merry and bright, indeed.
It isn't too late to try to sneak in, St. Louis!
