I have admired this 1886 Queen Anne style mansion for more than 20 years in my husband’s hometown...
I was surprised to find it on the market during our recent visit. 8000sqft and ready for it? Only 450k. 3 finished stories, original silk wallpaper, untouched woodwork in pristine condition, pocket doors galore, 9 functional fireplaces, a carriage house, and gorgeous grounds. So many lovely original architectural goodies that I had to share!

Snuck away to Innsbrook...
The final "back to school" countdown has started here in Casa de Nenonen, as our oldest prepares for his Junior year in college and our youngest ventures in to his Senior year in high school. As a final "shebang", we slipped out in to the wilderness for a few days where the WiFi was spotty, but the memories were plentiful!

Iowa College tours, historic estates!
I have mentioned numerous times here on the blog over the years that I earned my real estate license while my youngest was in utero. The older he gets? There is no doubt that the love for historic architecture is in his blood! Hence, the perfect finale to his Iowa college tours? A tour of the lovely Salisbury Estate in Des Moines...
Built in 1923 by Carl Weeks, the inventor of foundation makeup, the estate was modeled after this beauty...
The handsome 14th century King's House in Salisbury, England.
The original projected budget for the Week estate started at $150,000... but ended with the final cost of a whopping 3 million. It is a spectacular blend of architectural styles and interesting salvaged architectural goodies from all over the world. I highly recommend a visit to the museum if ever in the Des Moines area.❤️

As far as my boy goes...
While it has been fun times exploring the country with him this summer in pursuit of his dream college, now the choice is up to him! We shall see.

The Chicago Skyline by boat...
Excuse me while my Realtor heart pitter-patters❤️...
After a day of touring Loyola University and DePaul University with our youngest, we took a spectacular sunset architectural boat tour of Chicago. The only thing better than the cityscape by foot, is by water!
If in Chicago, I HIGHLY recommend an evening tour of the city with Seadog Cruises. It was not only informative, but a lovely ride on Lake Michigan and the Chicago River!
On a personal note, I feel like we just finished this emotional process with my oldest. I can't believe that my baby's turn is up...
Sigh.
Here he is. 17, at the fabulous Chicago Shedd Aquarium, 6 weeks from his Senior year.

A Realtor's perspective on college tours...
Our baby will be a Senior this coming school year, so we are in the midst of crazy "College Tour Summer". Today we toured the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Gotta love the dichotomy of the professor curb appeal, versus the student...
😳🙄🤣
Oh dear. College.

Morning view from Montego Bay...
Some how, some way...
All four of our Spring Break calendars miraculously aligned this year. We took advantage of the sweet serendipity by changing latitudes for a few days of fun in the sun.
Good morning, Jamaica!🌴👙

A long weekend in Innsbrook...
We grabbed an AirBnb and slipped outside of the city limits to a cozy little a-frame chalet in Innsbrook for a few days of summer “fun in the sun”, before the boys go back to school. A quick peek at the fun...
If you have never been to Innsbrook and seek a little nature refuge, sites like AirBnb offer terrific weekend getaways without the commitment of buying in the gated community. From dozens of hiking trails, beaches, and lakes to plentiful community amenities like a pool, gym, golf course, and a restaurant... Innsbrook is the ultimate area HIDDEN GEM for nature lovers.

Hidden Gem: The Anthony Chapel in Hot Springs, Arkansas
Steve and I recently snuck away to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a few days to celebrate his birthday with lake play, mineral bath spa time, and quality relaxation...
If you have never been to Hot Springs, it is a magical destination nestled in the Ouachita Mountains, where soothing thermal mineral waters bubble from the earth at 143 degrees...
As a result, the area is home to some of the finest and most abundant quartz mines in the world...
While our entire Hot Springs adventure was weekender perfection, we did find ourselves at a spot that I would deem to be an absolute must-see for any nature lover/architecture buff who finds themselves in the area. Hence, had to share!
Nestled in a dense woodland garden on the banks of Lake Hamilton...
... sits a magical glass chapel that perfectly marries the beauty of nature, architecture, and design. Constructed of native material and boasting floor to ceiling glass panels that soar 57 feet (6 stories) in to the treetops, it is a religious experience despite your affiliation.
We were lucky enough to have 15 minutes alone here. We laid on our backs in silence on the altar and gazed through the open-rafter ceiling panels. Nature furiously bustles around you, 360 degrees, as you meditate in silence. Magical place, unforgettable moment. Had to share.✨

Celebration of Spring at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas...
I snuck away to Las Vegas for a quick weekend...
There is no more lovely place to celebrate Spring than at the stunning Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden. Talk about pretty in pink?! Had to share!
We never travel to Las Vegas without a visit to the conservatory. In fact, it is typically one of our very 1st stops. Each season, the resort's talented and creative horticulturists 100% transform the 14,000 sqft space to the distinctive sights, sounds, and colors of that particular season. Photos do not do it justice friends, I promise. It takes my breathe away ever single time, and this visit was no different. 💗

In a cabin in the woods...
I slipped outside of the city for a couple of days of quiet reflection, figuratively and quite literally off the lake outside of my cabin. Hello, Thursday...
... had to share.🌲
