When the past greets the present...

Showing and selling historic homes as a Realtor is always a fun adventure of matchmaking the past with the present. Some things are left behind intentionally, while others are just that... left behind. In the basement of a vacant 1926 South City bungalow, he remains...

Haunting. What’s your story, sir?

Old House Love!

In historic homes, the true beauty is always in the details...

Hello, Tuesday!

Into the woods...

Nenonen "social distance heaven" came in the form of a rustic 125 old log cabin tucked away on 265 acres of private land this week.  We traded masks and bleach wipes for ATV rides in the walnut groves, fields of wildflowers, hikes beneath the mighty pines, dips in the spring-fed lake, bonfire fun, architectural goodies...

...and true solitude that only unplugged nature can provide from the challenges of 2020.

Nature heals, at least for the Nenonens. A perfect life pause to enjoy one another and the tail end of Summer before it is back to school. ❤️

Under Contract: #2347 Goodale Avenue in 63114

Wow, it has been a busy week for me!  As a Midwest Realtor enters 1st quarter, you never know what you are going to get as our weather is unpredictable and the Buyer pool can take several weeks to reengage after the holidays.  I always encourage Sellers to proceed with caution in January.
Not in 2020!  This is my second listing this week to sell within days.  Gorgeous Goodale was "no show" until Sunday morning, and after an exciting whirlwind 72 hours of showings and negotiation... SOLD!  Yippee!

Obviously, this home is lovely and practically sells itself, but my clients are the true testament to this fast and profitable turnover.  I sold the K family this home just a few years ago and it was beautiful then, but their improvements took it to the next level.  Thank you for your trust, friendship, and repeat business, K family.

People tend to come into your life in funny ways, and this holds very true in my industry.  I met the K family while sitting a very quiet open house almost 2 decades ago and we bonded immediately.  This is the 4th time that I have had the privilege to represent them over the last 18+ years of my career, and their loyalty means the world to me. Wonderful people, great friends, contagious postive energy that I so very much appreciate!

Congrats to the K duo... their 1948 Cape Cod closes escrow in a month.

In St. Louis and ready to make a move? The 2020 market is in FULL-EFFECT!  My listings are selling as fast as I can get them on the MLS,  friends.  This is the year!  Let's connect...

Iowa College tours, historic estates!

College Tour Summer 2019 continues in Casa de Nenonen as our youngest nears closer to his Senior year.  Back to school in 2 weeks!

I have mentioned numerous times here on the blog over the years that I earned my real estate license while my youngest was in utero.  The older he gets?  There is no doubt that the love for historic architecture is in his blood! Hence, the perfect finale to his Iowa college tours? A tour of the lovely Salisbury Estate in Des Moines...

Built in 1923 by Carl Weeks, the inventor of foundation makeup, the estate was modeled after this beauty...
The handsome 14th century King's House in Salisbury, England.

The original projected budget for the Week estate started at $150,000... but ended with the final cost of a whopping 3 million. It is a spectacular blend of architectural styles and interesting salvaged architectural goodies from all over the world.  I highly recommend a visit to the museum if ever in the Des Moines area.❤️

A teeny peek at our tour...

Learn more about the history of the estate here...

As far as my boy goes...
While it has been fun times exploring the country with him this summer in pursuit of his dream college, now the choice is up to him!  We shall see.
