That's right, friends... as if 2011 hasn't been unusual enough thus far here in St. Louis: The Missouri Department of Conservation obtained the above confirmed photograph of a MOUNTAIN LION from a stationary wildlife camera in a wooded area near Ladue and 141 in Chesterfield last week. It was the third Missouri sighting of a mountain lion, also known as a cougar, puma or panther, since November.
This photograph was taken in the heart of an affluent bustling West County suburb. Not on the outskirts of the burbs- in the CENTER of the burbs. Not in the country. Not in the sticks. The area where this image was captured is a highly desirable and populated area just outside of the Central Corridor, littered with Starbucks and shopping and fantastic eateries and award-winning hospitals.
This trail cam is 20 minutes TOPS from the Arch in the center of downtown. 10 minutes from downtown Clayton. 5 minutes from my house.
Enough said.
